On Sunday 19th January I played in a district chess tournament with Jude, Kelsey, Lewellyn and Caitlin and about 30 others. When we arrived we practised, I played against a scout leader who beat me. The leaders told us the order we would play and explained the points – 3 for a win, 1 for a draw and 0 if you lost. Once we played a game, one row got up and moved to the right one seat and played whoever was sat there. I won 4 games, drew 1 and lost 2 and Jude and I came joint 6th which I was really proud of. After the third game we had lunch on the floor and we were able to buy tuck, YUMM! There were also Scouts in the tournament who Caitlin and Llewellyn had to play but Llewellyn drew – well done him! The two players with the most points played in the final, a year 3 boy from my school vs a year 4 boy who had one last year who won again. He came from 30th Brighton who were the overall winners. I think chess is a brilliant game and I had an epic day and hope I can play again next year.
